Do you feel like you’re muddling through motherhood?
I’ve been there.
After my first child, I thought that this go-with-flow style of parenting was all I ever really needed to know. But, I was forced to change my thinking after learning that my son, the middle child in my family, has a special set of needs that require a different approach.
I could no longer continue functioning as a self-confessed ‘neurotic’ mother. It didn’t work for us. They say every child is different and unique, so why are we taught to parent them all in the same way?
How can we possibly trust the guidance written in books by experts or on the 10th page of a Google search, when the authors know anything about our unique motherhood journeys? Or the character of our child?
The answer isn’t waiting for us externally. It’s waiting for us, within.
The importance of you –
“I went down a holistic path and that changed my whole perspective. It taught me that my child’s entire light source in this world was ME all along” – Trish Elebert
BOOK NOWMother’s instinct
When my son was first diagnosed with autism, I wanted to learn as much as I could about how to support his needs and overcome the challenges ahead of us.
I quizzed the medical professionals, but they threw around solutions like medication and behavioural therapy.
It didn’t sit right with me.
So I went down the ‘alternative’ route. And the holistic approach changed everything. Suddenly, I started to understand the world through his eyes. I embarked on a journey of self-discovery, enlightenment and holistic training, to become the parent my children needed me to be.
But, once I started sharing my learnings with my closest friends and family, word got out, and other mother’s began approaching me.
Asking for guidance. Craving the reassurance that they were doing all that they could for their child. I realised that these parenting tools I had acquired, over the course of my own spiritual journey, were not made exclusively for me and my family.
They could be used by all mothers. To act as a guiding light when they need it the most.
